The world is still a big place, America is vast, varied, and gorgeous. For some, the motorcycle is a ride to the bar down the street. For others it’s the best way to see the world. Some of these are well known, some of these are secrets you may not have heard of, and some are only here for deeply personal reasons. If you’re looking for a trip, you could do a lot worse than work your way through this list.
Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest – This looks like a great time in a great location.
The Ride to Key West I know bikers in Florida and nearby, and riding to Key West would be amazing.
Roan Mountain St Park has a lot of great riding nearby. Baggers Magazine knows what I’m talking about.Mad River Glen – Vermont
Devil’s Tower This is a particularly painful trip. I was planning this trip with my brother and his son when he died. The plan was to leave Menomonee Falls, WI and ride about 9 hours up towards the Missouri River and camp.
Bikes, Blues & BBQ Fayetteville, AR
The Lowbrow Getdown – I love motorcycle camping and this looks like a good time.
The Kentucky Rally – also known as “Little Sturgis”
Scotland’s North Coast 500 – Called “The Route 66 of Scottland”, this would be an amazing trip on two wheels.
Death Valley and Dante’s View – I got the idea from Ride With Normal Reedus.
San Juan Mountain Skyway – Colorado
Three Sisters/Twisted Sisters, TX
The Hoka Hey Challenge – pretty much the ultimate American ride. I hope to wear the HHMC patch some day.
Iron Butt National Parks Tour – 50 sites in at least 25 states in less than one year.
Washington Back Country Discovery Route – Washington state, and on a dual sport.
Iron Butt 50cc – Coast to coast in 50 hours.
Ride to Redding – The Pacific Northwest is in my blood, what better way to go home than on two wheels? See also this Revzilla article.
The Lincoln Highway – There was also a movie about this. It is not 21 days of riding for any serious touring rider.
The Trans America Trail – Living off the bike and camping of course.
The Dalton Highway – Home to Alaska
Doniphan, Missouri, the tiny Ozark town where I grew up.
The Hurricane Highway, The Tunnel of Trees
Beartooth Pass, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Highway, Rocky Mountain National Park
The Tail of the Dragon, Deal’s Gap.
